THE COLLECT
Grant to us, O Lord, the grace of inward happiness and the serenity which comes from living close to you. Daily renew in us the sense of joy and let your Holy Spirit dwell in us, filling every corner of our hearts with light and grace, so that we face life with the infection of good courage and meet all ills and accidents with an inner peace, giving thanks to you always for all things, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Ame
MIKE’S MESSAGE
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Only six more days before our fair! It’s our opportunity to shine in the market place of Akaroa – so let’s shine! It’s our opportunity to share something of ourselves with those who don’t belong to our church – or may not go to church at all. What will the message be that they take away with them of our combined parish? I hope that along with their bargains they will also sense within us an inner joy that comes from knowing Christ. The word ‘fair’ is derived from the Latin word ‘feria’ which originally meant feast or holiday. So first and foremost a fair must be a celebration of life – not just a means of raising money. Let’s do what we are going to do – and let’s do it with a sense of fun and a smile… and let’s do it well.
We extend our aroha and best wishes to Rachel McWhannell, who is celebrating her 90th birthday this weekend.
God bless! Mike

HELP! – MEALS REQUIRED TO REPLENISH FREEZER
We are delighted that many of our frozen meals have been delivered to those in need. We would appreciate some home-cooked and frozen supermarket meals to refill our freezer. Casseroles and soup can be put in ice cream containers (there is a supply next to the freezer). Please label them with contents and number of servings, and write the details in the notebook on the freezer. If anyone is able to cook a meal, or you know of someone who is unwell or under stress and would appreciate a cooked meal, contact Wendy on 304 7151
PRAYER GROUPS
Prayer groups are held on Wednesday morning 10.30 am at St Peter’s, and Saturday morning 11 am at St John the Evangelist, Duvauchelle, to pray for the life of our Banks Peninsula parish, and any other concerns, large or small. Everyone is welcome, and those attending on Wednesdays may like to stay on for the 11 am service of Holy Communion afterwards.
